What is SEO?

SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization.

It refers to a set of strategies…

to ‘optimize’ the pages of a website to increase the odds of that page being found under relevant searches. If done well, it should increase the rank position of a page under relevant searches.

Without SEO, you simply miss out on the most inexpensive form of website traffic and generally the best-converting traffic. Without SEO, the search engines have a much harder time understanding what your webpage is about. Good SEO is a rank factor in itself and your web pages need all the advantages they can get with all of the competition that exists on the web. And if you can rank in organic search (which is the goal) AND paid search, studies show clearly that your odds of getting that click are even higher than if just one was present!

Though there are literally dozens of other factors that make up good SEO, when these two high-level things are done right, a good optimizer can increase the rank of web pages for its targeted keywords.
